BTK Signatures (MO)
The BTK Killer had several signatures that went along with each of his kills.
Originally, the BTK Killer had no MO, his first kill was random, only choosing them because he thought Mrs. Otero was pretty. He did however, develop a Zodiac-esque signature letter to the police. By leaving letters behind, he knew he would be credited with the kills, and also be able to tell the actual story for the killings. He left behind his chosen name as well, "Bind them, Torture them, Kill Them." and left his signature as viewed in the top left corner of the website.
As his killings continued, he began to develop an MO, as he would struggle to take on full families and still escape cleanly. So he began to target older woman, who would be alone, and then break in acting as if he were a government official. Once binded, he would tell these older ladies that he was about to rape them, just to cause panic and see it in their eyes.

After all of his killings were done, and he was forgotten, he began his most infamous of signatures. He started doing "drops" which would include handwritten accounts of the killings, and also pictures of the actual acts. By doing this, the BTK Killer led to his own capture, which may have had a purpose, so that he could confess his crimes in front of a court, and take credit for all of his actions
